The dialysis care team you know is still your dialysis care team

The idea of doing Peritoneal Dialysis (PD) at home might seem a bit scary or overwhelming, but advice and help are always there for you—from the same care team you’re used to. That means your current social worker, nurse, nephrologist and dietitian are still just a phone call away, ready to answer questions or help out in any way needed.

Social worker

On any dialysis treatment, your social worker is an important source of support and help navigating information and answering any questions you have about lifestyle, insurance, Medicare and more. Among other things, your social worker will help you plan how to handle PD when you travel.

Nurse at PD clinic

A Peritoneal Dialysis nurse is there to help with training or whatever you need. You will have a nurse or team of nurses who are just a phone call away — 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Nephrologist

With PD, you may only have to visit your doctor once a month and that visit is a one-on-one visit. Your doctor is there to help you make sure that whatever form of dialysis you choose is right for you medically.

Dietitian

Your dietitian will continue to help you with the dietary challenges of kidney disease, providing resources for kidney-friendly foods, shopping and personalizing your PD kidney-friendly diet as needed.

Baxter’s HomeCare Services & Technical Services

HomeCare Services, an award-winning customer service group at Baxter, is there to help you with your PD supplies: helping you figure out what you need and when, ordering them, and arranging delivery to alternate locations when you travel. You can call Baxter Technical Services at any time of day or night to answer questions about your cycler.

Baxter's driver

Baxter’s driver is the friendly face you see every month or so. Your driver will carry your PD supplies into your home, help you determine the best place to store them and rotate stock as necessary.
